Company Profile
Bridger Valley Electric is a member owned co-op.
A co-op is an organization that is formed by the people it serves. Members of
the community get together and decide to provide a service for themselves rather
than buying it from someone else.
Because BVEA is owned by the people they serve, our only purpose is to keep our
customers happy. Unlike investor owned utility companies, co-op's do not have to
generate a profit to keep out-of-state investors or stockholders happy. What
that means, is you as the consumer get lower power rates. And if the co-op does
make a profit, the money is distributed back to the customer.
As a customer and owner, you also have a say in the way your co-op is run. All
customers no matter how little or how much power they consume have a voice in
determining company policy. Every year, the co-op holds an annual meeting in
which the members of the co-op elect a board of directors. By keeping or
removing board members, you have your voice heard on important issues such as
billing and customer service.
Because we are owned by the members of the community, we feel a deep loyalty to
the community. There have been numerous times in the past where Bridger Valley
Electric has donated time, materials or money to make this a better place to
live, and why not, after all, we live here too.
